The President has agreed to convene the All Party Conference to discuss the national conflict, said Jathika Hela Urumaya MP Ven. Athuraliye Ratana Thera.
President Mahinda Rajapaksa´s agreement came at a discussion he had with the JHU parliamentarian today (Sept. 05th).
Soon after assuming presidency, Mr. Rajapaksa convened the APC to find a solution to the issue.
Pursuant to its deliberations, the All Party Representative Committee was formed to propose recommendations.
Its progress has been impeded by the withdrawal of the leftist JVP, the main opposition UNP, and later by the JHU to demand a TMVP representation at the committee.
With the government consent coming for the Tamil party´s inclusion, the JHU has again refused to attend discussions, and said it wanted a meeting of the APC instead.
