SC allows petition challenging closure of Budget Shop
The Supreme Court has granted leave to proceed with a fundamental rights petition filed against the closure of a Budget Shop outlet at Rajagiriya in Colombo. The petitioners are the persons who had operated the business under authorization by the Cooperative Wholesale Establishment. The SC instructed the Attorney General to look into the possibility of allowing the Budget Shop to continue for the next six months. The respondents cited in the case are Commerce and Consumer Affairs Minister Bandula Gunawardena and the chairman of the Cooperative Wholesale Establishment
