The leftist JVP insists it will continue to take strong action against any errant party member, even if its parliamentary group is reduced to five in number. Leader of the parliamentary group Anura Kumara Dissanayake said there would be no pardoning of wrongdoers. He also said the ruling UPFA coalition should appoint a JVP member to the parliamentary seat vacated following the resignation of Wasantha Samarasinghe. When NethFM News referred this statement to UPFA General Secretary Susil Premajayanthan, he said the JVP had inked a MoU with the SLFP, and not with the broad coalition. Therefore, SLFP General Secretary Maithripala Sirisena would be informed of the JVP´s request, he added.
