
The government is focusing its attention on reinforcing laws governing the custodianship of state-owned land. New laws would be introduced if necessary, he said at a discussion at Temple Trees on the management of land owned by the Food Department.
President Mahinda Rajapksa says all such land should come under the complete control of Land Commissioner General´s Department.
According to a statement issued by the Government Information Department, the president has pointed to certain state institutions having illegally sold, leased or rented out its land to outsiders.
These transactions took place without the permission of the Land Commissioner General, Mr. Rajapaksa has said.
